I remember after the 2022 Tour de France I was annoyed for not shooting this photo, thankfully I only had to wait a year and it delivered better than expected. To have a clean photo of Jonas Vingegaard, the Tour de France winner and his loyal lieutenant Nathan Van Hooydonck against the arch of the Arc de Triomphe, luck you could say. The finish line is a good 15 minutes walk from here, each year we wave down the broom wagon and catch a lift to the line with a handful of laps remaining, the thrill hasn’t worn off yet, riding the Tour de France broom wagon down the Champs Élysées.
